I was not able to find a site to give me a lot of historical information on the Salyers surname origin. I will post what I have found and suggest that anyone with more information forward it to me.

Spelling variations include: Salwey, Sewyn, Selwyn, Selwin, Sallowaye and others.

First found in Staffordshire where they were seated from early times and their first records appeared on the early census rolls taken by the early Kings of Britain to determine the rate of taxation of their subjects.

Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: William and Thomas Salwey settled in Philadelphia in 1683.
